Should foreign residents have the right to vote in local elections?
In France, the question recently stirred a huge controversy after MPs proposed to extend the right to vote to all residents, regardless of nationality, for local ballots. So, ahead of the French municipal elections this Sunday, ChatEurope took a look at how other European countries handle this issue. In Ireland, for example, non-EU nationals have been able to participate since 1963.
