This Privacy Policy outlines what information we may collect when you access the website available at: www.chateurope.eu (hereinafter the “Platform”), how we use it, and your rights under the Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter the “GDPR”).
By accessing the Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
For the purpose of this Privacy Policy:
- “you”, “your”, “user(s)”: shall refer to any user of the Platform;
- “we”, “our”, “us”: shall refer to the organizations who operate the Platform (as listed in the “Identification of the Project Partners” section (7) of the Platform’s Terms of Use) and, when applicable, to any of their partners, suppliers and/or subcontractors.
1. Data We Collect
We may collect the data listed below in connection with your use of the Platform. Not all the data we collect is considered to be "personal data" under GDPR. However, we want to provide you with the most comprehensive information on all the data that we process when you use this Platform and/or contact us.
1.1 Data we collect when you use the Platform:
During each of your visits to our Platform, we may collect the following data:
- Data about the device, browser and operating system you use: identifier of the device you are using (IP address, Apple ID, Android ID, etc.), connection data (date, time, duration), type and version of the browser software (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.), type of operating system (Microsoft Windows, Apple OS, Linux, Unix, etc.).
- Data relating to your browsing: route on the Platform’s pages and duration of viewing of certain pages, content that you view, searches and results of searches and generally your actions on the Platform.

1.2. Data you may provide us when you use the Platform and/or contact us:
The Platform provides access to one or several contact address(es) that enable you to contact us if you have any queries or claims regarding the Platform, any content published thereon or any other subject matter. When receiving a message through these contact addresses, we will collect any data that you may share with us in your message (such as: your first name, last name, email address, job title, company name, country, and any other data that you may include in the content of your message). When contacting us through these contact addresses, please ensure you provide all necessary data and only necessary data to allow us to respond to your query/claim. Please do not transmit us sensitive data (or “special categories of data” as defined by GDPR) unless necessary to handle your query/claim.
The Platform hosts a chatbot which allows you to ask questions, search content and interact with the Platform. The chatbot is not intended to process your personal data. When interacting with the chatbot, we ask you not to transmit any personal data in your prompts. If you do so, your personal data will be stored in your conversation history.
2. Purposes of Data Processing
The data we collect is used for the purposes and on the legal basis described below:

3.1 Cases in which transfers can be made:
We keep your data within the organizations who operate the Platform, except in limited cases outlined below:
- Third parties with whom we collaborate may have access to your personal data, in particular the subcontractors we use in relation to technical, legal and e-mail services. These transfers are always made in the context of the purposes described in the “Purposes of Data Processing” section (2) above, and only data strictly necessary for the achievement of these purposes is concerned.
- We may transfer your data if it appears necessary to
enforce our Terms of Use and/or this Privacy Policy, (ii) respond to any claim against us or one of our subcontractors, (iii) comply with any court order, including in the context of inquiries and investigations, (iv) to guarantee the rights, property and safety of the Platform, the organizations who operate the Platform, yourself and third parties.
- We may transfer your data under the conditions and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy to any new organization who may join the consortium operating the Platform.
3.2 Places to which transfers can be made:
We will host and keep your data within the European Union. However, some data may be transferred to countries outside of the European Union, some of which may have a less protective legislation relating to personal data than that applicable within the European Union. This may be the case for data transmitted to some of our subcontractors located outside of the European Union, which we can use for certain specific services. When such a transfer takes place, we make sure that it is implemented through legal instruments requiring the recipients to comply with all obligations applicable within the European Union as regards data processing (standard contractual clauses of the European Commission), in order to ensure individuals a sufficient level of privacy.
